This Sustainabily session will host Sara Hastings-Simon from the University of Calgary and take place on Thursday, July 25th, 13:10 am to 14:25 pm in the Auditorium. The talk will be followed by Q&A and by the presentation of the results of the TRIUMF mobily survey and discussions (see below)
"The Role of Policy, Business, and Technology in the Decarbonization Challenge: From the Global to the Local (Laboratory) Scale"
The global energy systems are entering a period of dramatic change. The global push for decarbonization along with concerns around energy security and technological developments are accelerating the pace of change. In this talk I will introduce the global context of decarbonization, the current state of play and the role of policy, technology, and economic and energy security concerns in the energy transition. I will discuss different types of policies available to policy makers and how policies can be best designed to target different points in technology development and deployment. This global picture will be connected to the more local picture of policies that might be used in a laboratory context including an overview of key levers for transportation emission reductions.

"Result of TRIUMF mobility survey" and discussions
The SW Local Organizing Committee launched a community survey on transportation usage. This survey was intended to gather information about transportation usage within the TRIUMF community, which will help us better understand the patterns of public transit usage and work-related trips and to explore ways to reduce the environmental impact TRIUMF has on our planet.
The result of the survey will be presented - it will be followed by discussions with the audience
