Career Panel and Speed Mentoring

This networking event is focused on how to make a career out of a grad degree in physics. The event will feature a 1 hour panel discussion with panelists coming from a range of industries in diverse fields around Vancouver and beyond to showcase career opportunities for those with a physics background. Learn all about what paths are available and how to follow them after you graduate!

The panel will be followed by a 1 hour “speed mentoring” session of small group discussions lead by individual panelists and other mentors from Science Week/TRIUMF. This is your chance to build connections with people who have made a career out of the skills they learned doing physics!

Effectively showcasing your skills by knowing your audience: a guide to academic CVs and industry standards for resumes.

As a physicist you have a plethora of skills that would allow you to thrive in positions across both academia and industry, but how do you identify then clearly communicate the skills of yours that matter most to potential employers? In this interactive session we will feature presentations from experts in academia and industry discussing what makes a quality CV/resume to them. 

 

Presentations will be followed a series of 15 minute one-on-one sessions with professionals from academia/industry where attendees can get feedback on their resume/CV. Please come with a copy of your resume/CV!
