Entering Canada
Visitors to Canada require a valid passport. US citizens carrying a valid US Passport do not require a visa to come to Canada. Residents of the US who carry a passport from a country listed on the Government of Canada site may need an Invitation Letter from the Conference Chair to attach to the Visitor's Visa Application. Please refer to the Government of Canada website for instructions on how and who needs to apply for a Visitor's Visa to enter Canada. Please give yourself sufficient time for processing. As of March 15th, 2016, any delegates from visa-exempt countries will need to apply for an eTA (electronic Travel Authorization) before then can board a flight to Canada. The eTA costs C$7.00 and allows for pre-screening of visa exempt nationals. Please check here for details related to the eTA.
Getting to TRIUMF
TRIUMF is located on the southern tip of the UBC Campus. (4004 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 2A3). Only ~13km away from Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
UBER/Taxi/Rental car (~25 min)
The fastest option to travel from YVR airport to TRIUMF or TRIUMF house is via UBER or taxi.
A rental car is not needed to get around in Vancouver (unless you plan on exploring its surroundings). Should you decide to drive to TRIUMF, TRIUMF’s parking lot is located to the north of the Main Office Building. Daily parking is in effect 7 days a week, 24 hours per day; hourly or daily parking pass can be purchased from the ticket dispenser.
Public Transit (~45 min)
TRIUMF or TRIUMF house can easily be reached via public transit options in Vancouver:
- Take the Canada Line (Skytrain) from YVR in direction Waterfront
- Exit skytrain at "Langara-49th Avenue Station"
- At "Langara-49th Station@Bay2" take bus line 049 direction UBC
- For TRIUMF exit at "Triumf Centre"
- For TRIUMF house exit at "NB Wesbrook Mall @ Thunderbird Blvd"
