The EMIS XX Welcome Reception will be held at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre in Whistler on Monday evening, October 20th at 6:30 PM. Meeting point will be outside the Fairmont.
The Squamish Nation and the Lil'wat Nation created the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre through an unprecedented partnership with the goal of sharing their living cultures with the world. This spectacular venue is located on the shared traditional territories of the Squamish and Lil'wat First Nations in Whistler's Upper Village just a 3-min walk from the Fairmont.
What to expect
The Welcome Reception will commence with a traditional procession at 6:30 PM, thoughtfully organized by the SLCC, to ceremoniously lead all conference participants from the Fairmont to the welcome reception venue. Afterwards, we are pleased to invite all participants and registered guests to enjoy two complimentary beverages and a selection of light refreshments. The evening will offer a welcoming atmosphere for mingling, reconnecting with colleagues, and engaging in stimulating scientific exchange. You will also have the chance to visit the galleries and engage with SLCC's Cultural Ambassadors to learn about their culture and traditions.
